"People Whisperer"
I graduated college and went on to earn my "master's" working for Pixar Animations Studios for five years in its start-up years. There were 100 people when I started and approximately 800 when I left. I traveled the U.S. and internationally looking for amazing talent to grow the production staff and enable two films to be created at the same time - each film requiring 4 years to complete.
The amazing part of this growth was that it wasn't just about filling seats and hiring headcount. It was about finding the best of the best. Everyone walking through those magical doors to join us on the path to Infinity and Beyond not only had to be brilliant - but they had to be humble. Our philosophy of "hire slow, fire fast" allowed for my team and leaders to be picky at a time when the industry was extremely competitive. And it paid off. Our culture thrived and our movies succeeded. And while "Hunter and Gatherer" was the title on my business cards, looking back, "People Whisperer" or "Gatekeeper" would have been just as appropriate.
And I got lucky. I learned from the best. Working alongside Steve Jobs, Lawrence Levy, John Lasseter and Ed Catmull ... well, seriously.
Simply. The. Best.
Taking this incredible experience and education with me, I founded People Phase in 2013 and have continued to work with teams, leaders and investors to help build, nurture and restructure organizations while at the same time supporting individualspersonal growth - both in and outside of the workplace.
